TECHNICAL SUPPORT OFFICER – POHNPEI
Purpose of this role:
The Technical Support Officer’s overall role is to provide front line ICT support for users by providing technical support and troubleshooting for all aspects of computer hardware, network and software.
Technical Objectives:
The TSO should participate in providing professional, timely, and effective desktop and ICT support services to all Vital facilities, assist in identifying and resolving critical ICT troubleshooting issues to ensure appropriate technical support for the continuation of essential services in a timely, efficient, and effective manner, and also assist in developing functional specifications to optimize ICT capabilities and achieve operational objectives. The TSO proactively monitors system security patches and malware updates to ensure their currency and correct deployment. Additionally, she/he administers backup and recovery operations by maintaining and monitoring backup equipment and data.
Essential:
- Minimum Four (4) years experience in an information and Communications Technology support role
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills gained over a minimum of five years in a support service-oriented role in the public or private sector
- Ability to apply new concepts and problem-solving skills in an ICT development environment
- A proven ability to work in small island economies with a willingness to undertake interstate travel
- Degree or Certificate level qualification(s) in computer science, information technology or its equivalent, or a minimum of 3 years equivalent related experience
Desirable:
- ICT professionalism qualification;
- A solid understanding of health and safety with the ability to translate it into procedure;
- Experience in an operation or industry where customer deliveries must always be accurate and on time;
- Operations experience in the wider energy industry;
- Bachelor’s degree in ICT or relevant field, with more than 3 years of solid work experience
