PROJECT MANAGER

The Project Manager utilizes the Project Management Institute (www.pmi.org) PMBoK in performing the work: to take a project from a concept, through to a project charter with a preliminary scope of work;  to define and mature the project scope, develop the project management plan, and identify and schedule project activities; defined within a project management plan to accomplish the project objectives under the project scope statement; to compare actual performance with planned performance analyze variances, assess trends to effect process improvements, evaluate possible alternatives, and implement appropriately corrective action as needed; and to formally terminate a project and transfer the completed product to operations or to close a cancelled project.

Most of all, Project Managers manage and motivate their teams through personal skills to: effectively exchange accurate, appropriate and relevant information with stakeholders;  guide, inspires and motivate team members and other project stakeholders to manage and overcome issues to effectively achieve project objectives; effectively administers the project thorough the deployment and use of human, financial material, intellectual and intangible resources; applies an appropriate depth of perception discernment, and judgment to effectively direct a project in a changing and evolving environment; and conforms to an ethical behavior governed by responsibility, respect, fairness, and honesty.

Project Managers have specific experience and expertise in one (or more) of the following areas: fuel storage and distribution terminal infrastructure; competency-based training programs; business process documentation and continuous improvement; oil fired power plant design, construction and operation; health, safety, security and environmental systems process and controls; software research and development.

Knowledge & Experience

We are seeking individuals with:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Public Administration, Planning, Geography, Natural Science, Engineering, Oil & Gas or closely related field; Three (3) years of direct project management and team leadership experience, and using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Project Enterprise tools to manage projects; Demonstrated ability to manage mid-sized, complex projects between $1.0MM and $5.0MM in value in one or more of in the following areas: fuel storage and distribution terminal infrastructure; competency based training programs; business process documentation and continuous improvement; oil fired power plant design, construction and operation; health, safety, security and environmental systems process and controls; software research and development. Strong presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information and make recommendations to high-level decision makers. Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

Considerable ability to interpret technical procedures to customers, public officials and other lay personnel. Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department employees and customer representatives. Considerable ability to give clear and consistent instructions to team members. Considerable knowledge of and ability to utilize current word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail and Internet software. Reasonable knowledge of current hardware and software technologies and uses. Considerable writing proficiency. Considerable oral presentation skills. Considerable ability to develop, lead, motivate and supervise working teams. Considerable problem solving and decision-making skills. Formal training in project management and tools like Clarity and Microsoft Project.
