We are currently seeking the right candidate for the position of:
AVIATION SUPERVISOR (Kosrae)
Supervisor (Aviation/Terminal) manages all aspects of Vital’s operation at one of its four island facilities. It is a backup position for the Officer In Charge. Supervisors are responsible for large-scale operational planning, risk management, the order-to-delivery efficient flow of product to customers, wet stock management, and the overseeing of inventory receipt and storage as well as plant and equipment maintenance and repairs. Supervisors understand the needs of Vital’s customers and do what it takes to ensure that Vital delivers every time on its commitment to its customers.
Most of all however, assists Officer In Charges manage and motivate people, resolve day-to-day operational issues, teach others how to troubleshoot, facilitate effective working relationships and encourage on-the-job learning, decision-making and innovative thinking. The Officer In Charge is responsible for a diverse, skilled workforce and is expected to be able to draw on its different strengths and develop its full capability.
Essential Job Requirements
All supervisors at Vital are considered role models and as such, are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to their role and responsibilities at all times. Supervisors are further expected to have the ability to:
- Directs and oversees all aspects of Aviation products/assets/materials accounting as it relates to inventory Company policies, procedures and controls. Assists Aviation Operations Manager in administering the facility’s operating expense and capital expense budgets.
- Exercises administration of facility’s employees/contractors adherence to required levels of performance of assigned duties. Recommends actions on salaries, promotions, training and motivation. Counsels employees/contractors whose performance is deficient, takes corrective action where warranted. Prepares appraisals.
- Ensures complete compliance when handling Aviation fuels with all aspects of current editions of the Aviation Operations Service Manual, Guidelines for Aviation Fuel Quality Control & Operating Procedures for Joint Airport Depots (JIG 2) and Joint Into-Plane Fueling Services (JIG 1) as well as Aviation bulletins that are published from time to time.
- Oversees projects at the facility ensuring all required safety requirements are adhered to, meets with customers, advises Aviation Operations Manager on current developments at the facility which may impact the Company.
- Maintains product quality control to be in compliance with aviation requirements.
- Report near misses and incidents
- Manage customer expectations around delivery schedules, particularly if things don’t run according to plan
- Develop and implement plans that improve work safety, reduce unsafe behaviors and protect the environment.
- Help individuals and teams adopt safe work practices, and develop strong problem-solving, communications and decision-making skills
- Seek and accept feedback in all its forms; be quick to acknowledge and learn from mistakes
- Prioritize tasks and make sound decisions that reflect Vital’s values and mission when faced with ambiguity.
- Identify and assess operational and business risks in order to develop risk treatment plans, which may include contingency plans in the event of a crisis, emergency, equipment or systems failure
- Generate and share, ideas and best practice with other Supervisors
