We are currently seeking the right candidate for the position of:
Accountant III – Pohnpei
The Accountant III plays a crucial role in supporting the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in developing and maintaining financial systems and policies. The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Assistance in the preparation of the chart of accounts.
- Conducting in-house non-fuel inventory audits.
- Monthly reconciliation and maintenance of fuel inventory
- Recording fuel purchases and allocating added costs to individual products.
- Ensuring weighted average inventory method for wet stock.
- Development and maintenance of in-house accounting reporting systems.
- Assisting the CFO in preparing and implementing cost accounting policies and procedures.
- Supporting the development of CPPs (Corporate Payment Policies) in responsible business units.
- Managing expenditures within allocated budgets.
- Implementing and maintaining internal controls for business units.
- Validating monthly cost of goods sold.
- Reconciling and ensuring accuracy of general ledger accounts for business units.
- Reviewing invoice authenticity and ensuring timely vendor payments.
- Maintaining subsidiary ledger for general ledger accounts including deferred payment, prepaid purchase order, due to/from, and other receivable accounts.
- Monthly reconciliation of inventory and resolution of variances
- Monthly reconciliation of accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Safeguarding business unit assets (tangible or cash) from misuse.
- Ensuring prompt payment of fuel suppliers within 7 days from invoice date.
- Ensuring financial statements are accurate and distributed by the 7th working day of the month.
- Assisting CFO in ensuring annual reports are prepared for audit in compliance with applicable laws.
- Periodically monitoring outstanding purchase order aging reports and recommending appropriate actions.
- Performing other related tasks as assigned.
This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with the CFO and other stakeholders to ensure financial integrity and compliance across all operations
Qualification & Experience
Essential
- AS Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field
- 3 or more years of progressive work experience
- Computer Literate (MS Office, especially Excel)
- Knowledge in MAS 500
- Good Interpersonal skills; positive attitude
- Detail oriented; Accuracy
- Good organizational skills
Desirable
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field
- Some relevant working experience
