We are currently seeking the right candidate for the position of:
MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN
The Mechanical Technician manages all the maintenance and new minor installations works of Vitals’ locations within FSM, Guam and Nauru. He/ She shall liaise with Maintenance Supervisor to ensure the site is ready for the works. He/ She shall be responsible for keeping all daily site progress records and updating site progress reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. He/ She must understand the importance of Vitals’ customers and terminal operations while carrying out the task in the facilities or on any plant or equipment’s. Technician must ensure all SAFETY procedures are in place prior to task been carried, records must be kept for daily safety meetings and briefings.
Most of all however, the Mechanical Technician must work on site or equipment in accordance with Vitals’ HSSE procedures and good knowledge in isolation, energy risk, understanding of mechanical/ electrical equipment’s and ability to understand mechanical / electrical diagrams and mechanical/electrical drawings. A crucial part of a mechanical role is to resolve day-to-day issues, attend to break downs, perform schedule maintenance on all assets, and ensures paperwork is filed properly. He/ She is responsible for maintaining adequate, sufficient, and clean workplace and ensures all critical and serviceable parts are in stock. Each asset must be serviced and maintained in timely manner and reports submitted to maintenance engineer at the end of task.
The role of a Mechanical Technician therefore requires strong mechanical/electrical equipment knowledge and fault-finding skills, communication skills, organizational, problem solving and analytical with some administrative skills. He/ She will also be required to assist Maintenance Engineer and Store men on serviceable and critical parts.
Key Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Technician is expected to perform the following key operational roles and/or tickets;
- Understanding Vital Energy’s Corporate Procedures & Practices for.
- Business Sectors & Operations.
- Health, Safety, Security & Environment.
- Accredited certification in mechanical trade.
- Knowledge of medium and heavy mechanical plant & equipment.
- Skill in fault finding and diagnostic.
- Interpretation of mechanical, electrical drawings and circuit diagrams.
- Risk/ HAZOP Assessment.
- Lead Team of people for projects and manage all risk.
Qualification and Skills
Essential
- Experienced Mechanical Technician .
- Five (5) years of experience in Power System Operations and generation works.
- Experience in energy/oil & gas industry.
- Verbal comprehension ( understands oral and written communications).
- Valid driving license.
- Computer Skills and has good ability to use MS Excel, MS Word, Power Point.
- Good communication and problem solving skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Leadership skills.
- Customer focus.
- Team player.
- Time focus.
- Physically fit.
- Willing to work long hours.
- Reading and understanding reports.
- Able to travel extensively.
Desireable
- Understanding of electrical equipment associated with mechanical.
- Operations experience in the wider energy industry.
- Engineering degree.
- Preferable skills as welder, fitter or plant maintenance.
- Able to stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/balance/climb.
