MECHANICAL FITTER
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our Asset Management and Maintenance Office. The ideal candidate will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and will possess strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on expertise, and a thorough understanding of mechanical systems. The role involves assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment, ensuring smooth operations, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and install mechanical components, systems, and machinery based on engineering specifications and blueprints.
- Use precision tools and equipment to achieve precise fits and clearances for misalignments, vibration, belt drives, gear box and oil analysis
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mechanical equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose mechanical issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Operate machining tools such as lathes, mills, and grinders to fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical components.
- Use measurements and specifications to achieve precise dimensions and tolerances.
- Conduct welding and fabrication tasks to create or repair metal structures and components.
- Ensure proper weld quality and integrity while adhering to safety guidelines.
- Interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, and schematics to accurately assemble and repair mechanical systems.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working with machinery, tools, and equipment.
- Follow industry regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and modifications performed on mechanical equipment.
- Document measurements, adjustments, and procedures for future reference via Computerized Maintenance and Management System.
- Provide technical assistance and support to colleagues as needed.
- Stay updated on advancements in mechanical technology and techniques.
- Travel to other company facilities for Preventative Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance assigned to him/her.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or relevant certifications in mechanical fitting preferred.
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or similar role.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in working with various hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of precision measurement instruments and techniques.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills are desirable.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity for working with heavy equipment and tools.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols in mechanical work environments.
Work Environment
The Mechanical Fitter will primarily work in a workshop or industrial setting, often in proximity to heavy machinery and equipment. The role may require occasional work in challenging conditions such as confined spaces, heights, or adverse weather.
