TERMINAL OPERATOR – NAURU

Terminal Operators work under the supervision of the Terminal’s Officer-in-Charge and Supervisor to assist in the overall operations of the bulk plant facilities. Carry out the receipt, storage, handling and deliveries of company petroleum products or materials in bulk or in packages within the facility or to customer locations or storage tanks ensuring maximum safety, efficiency, effectively and correct quantity and quality integrity.

Perform maintenance and repair tasks on facility equipment and assets. Ensure that all tasks performed are in accordance with company operating procedure guidelines. Requirements are local, state and federal regulatory requirements and good operating practices. Ensure that all regular tasks performed are conducted in a safe manner in order to protect the personnel, community, property and environment.

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Tanker Operations
  • Inspect hoses, valves, tanks, and related equipment before, during, and after transfers. Ensure systems are intact.
  • Mobilize and demobilize equipment and pollution control for product transfers.
  • Follow the Tanker Loading & Unloading Manual and regulatory guidelines.
  • Conduct product sampling, quality control, and tank gauging. Record all data and maintain logs.
  • Perform other related duties such as pipeline patrol, tank/dock watch, valve/tank shifting, tank level monitoring, perimeter security check and coordination with vessel crews necessary in the safe transfer of bulk products.
  • Ensure timely preparation of safety, quality, and accounting documents. Assist with port customs and regulatory clearances.
  • Storage, Handling, and Distribution
  • Conduct tank gauging, sampling, and quality control tests. Document product quantity and quality.
  • Manage transferring, cleaning, draining, and disposal of tanks and equipment.
  • Document safety, quality, and inventory movements. Assist with customs clearances and receipts/issues of cargo.
  • Handle product/materials/storehouse hauling and loading/unloading at various locations.
  • Facility Maintenance and Repair
  • Assist with periodic inspections and preventive maintenance of machinery and equipment. Ensure proper attention and quality control.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, including adjustments, lubrication, and repairs. Manage spare parts and tools.
  • Follow the Maintenance Inspection Checklist for all maintenance and repair work.
  • Motor Equipment Operation
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and Defensive Driving certification.
  • Conduct business professionally, coordinate delivery schedules, and handle paperwork efficiently.
  • Promote safety, maintain equipment, manage inventory, and ensure accurate records. Participate in training and adapt to administrative demands.
  • Seek and accept feedback, learn from mistakes, and perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • 2 years College Diploma or Certificate in related field;
  • 2 years of transferrable work experience in the petroleum industry;
  • 2 years of work experience in a role with people and the ability and confidence to work with limited supervision; and
  • A solid understanding of health and safety with the ability to translate it into procedures.

Desirable:

  • More than 2 years of transferrable work experience in energy or petroleum industry; and/or
  • CPR & First Aid certification.
