We are the largest supplier of energy in the Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of Nauru, owning, operating and/or leasing eight fuel terminals, forty-five storage tanks and pipeline systems, and a fleet of sixteen bulk trucks and aviation refuelers across Micronesia. We safely manage over 44 ship-to-shore cargo-receiving operations and over 447 marine bunkering activities per year and in full compliance to marine bunkering standards.

Vital is committed to transitioning from fossil fuel-based to renewable-based energies to help combat climate change and the adverse impacts it plays on our environment, and, as part of this strategic shift, is in the process of becoming a major supplier of renewable energy in Micronesia.

We operate in Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, Yap, Nauru and Guam. Our Nauru and Guam facilities operate under Vital Energy, Inc. We are currently seeking the right candidate for the position of:

RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNICIAN

The Renewables Energy Technician is a specialized position based in the Federated States of Micronesia and will be responsible for overall installation, regular maintenance, troubleshooting and successful delivery of all renewable projects for Vital Energy across the FSM, Nauru and Guam. The installation of renewable technologies namely solar photovoltaic, onshore wind, offshore wind and battery storage must be well within the specified timelines and internationally accepted safety, codes, guidelines and standards. S/he will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. S/he is to ensure that all tasks performed are conducted in a safe manner and in accordance with the company’s operating procedure guidelines.

Key Accountabilities

  • Implement and support a risk assessment program.
  • Develop an operations plan to define specific objectives or activities.
  • Explain/teach set procedures to others; propose efficiency improvements
  • Prepare documentation on a topic that is relevant, well-structured and logical.
  • Build long-term relationships with customers by working as a trusted advisor/specialist
  • Ensure work delegated is completed in an effective and timely manner, accepts accountability.
  • Identify the important issues and select an established procedure to address the problem
  • Develop the technical solution for a situation using fundamental principles and theory – technical adviser/assistant.
  • Provide advice on compliance that requires an interpretation of the laws and regulations.
  • Evaluate the performance of equipment, recommending operational changes and modifications
  • Conduct repairs or modifications to equipment used for renewable energy works.
  • Monitor and design effective and efficient safety programs, policies, or procedures used in multiple locations.
  • Establish stock levels according to usage/demand requirements minimizing stock on hand.

Essential Job Requirements

  • Relevant certifications, registrations, and licenses may be required

Qualifications & Experience

• Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree• Emphasis in Renewable Energy major or similar
