The Corporation owns and operates – under an independent power producer (IPP) model – an oil filled power plant that supplies between 7 and 11.0 GWh per annum of electricity to the Pohnpei Utilities Corporation (PUC) meeting up to 25% of Pohnpei demand requirements. 

A second smaller independent power plant in Chuuk on the island of Tonoas operates under an independent power producer (IPP) model and has a total maximum production of 1.5GWh. Electricity exported to the grid in Tonoas has continued to grow and mature over the years.

The increase in utilization of our units contributes to the increase in revenue from energy sales. The operational challenges encountered are managed well through discipline maintenance practices to maintain continuity of the power plant services
