Vital FSM Petroleum Corporation (Vital FSMPC) provides the following progress update on service restoration and operational recovery in Chuuk following the impact of Typhoon Sinlaku.

Full Recovery – Normal Operations

  • MV Seawatch is mission-ready
  • MV Vital Carrier is currently on a chartered voyage.

Full Restoration – Subject to intermittent service disruptions while asset rehabilitation work continues

  • Aviation Refueling
  • The aviation refueling system has been operational since 16 April 2026.
  • Available product has been prioritized for scheduled United Airlines flights
  • International customers are reminded to submit aviation uplift Nominations and obtain Confirmation before planning flights to Chuuk International Airport.
  • Domestic Services – Retail Deliveries
  • Retail deliveries to service stations have been provided since 17 April 2026.
  • Diesel deliveries to CPUC have been provided since 17 April 2026.
  • Drum Filling is now available.

 Domestic Services – Marine Bunkering

  • Domestic Marine Bunkering is now available.
  • International customers are reminded to submit Bunker Nominations and obtain Confirmation before planning voyages to Weno.

Partial Recovery – Normal Operations, dependent on other providers

  • Power Generation
  • The Tonoas Power Plant (TPP) has been ready to generate power.
  • Power generation will commence once the Chuuk Public Utility Corporation (CPUC) completes its safety inspections and confirms the integrity of the distribution network.

Prioritization of Supply

Throughout the recovery and restoration phases, available fuel supplies will continue to be prioritized to support the following services as needed:

  • Emergency and response services
  • Power generation and utilities
  • Critical infrastructure and essential community needs

Customer and Community Appreciation

Vital FSMPC acknowledges that although several services have resumed, recovery efforts remain fluid and access limitations may continue. We appreciate the patience and cooperation of customers and the Chuuk community as we continue working toward full restoration under challenging conditions.
